FIELD: basic organic synthesis.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method of producing N-(phosphonomethyl)-glycine. The method is implemented by catalytic liquid-phase oxidation of N-(phosphonomethyl)-iminodiacetic acid FIDUK with an aqueous solution of hydrogen peroxide H2O2 in one stage. Molybdenum and/or tungsten oxometalates, as well as their peroxo complexes, are used as Cat catalysts. The method is characterized by the fact that the reaction is carried out in an aqueous medium without the use of any additional organic solvents for 2–3 hours at a temperature of 50–95°C and total atmospheric pressure at the following molar ratios of components: [FIDUK]/[Cat]=250–1250; [H2O2]/[FIDUK]=1.4–1.8.

EFFECT: high yield of glyphosate with significant simplification of the process.
