FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a catalyst for selective hydrogenation of furfural to furfuryl alcohol, containing copper and iron oxides, wherein in its composition 5.0–40.0 wt% CuO, carrier is the rest, wherein the carrier is a spinel with a Fe3O4 structure, containing 48–85.5 wt% Fe2O3, as well as 6–19 wt% Al2O3.
EFFECT: high activity and selectivity of the catalyst and enabling production of furfuryl alcohol with output of more than 90 % with selective hydrogenation of furfural with conversion of more than 95 %.
