FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the development of a selective hydrogenation catalyst for furfural to furfural alcohol. Catalyst contains Ni and Mo in the form of an alloy and as a modifier up to 4 by wt. % of carbon in the form of Ni and/or Mo carbide, the ratio of Ni to Mo in the catalyst being varied up to 6, and also includes a stabilizing additive in the form of SiO2 or a carrier from the group: γ-Al2O3, θ-Al2O3, TiO2, CeO2, ZrO2, SiO2.
EFFECT: technical result consists in preparation of a catalyst with high activity and selectivity in formation of furfural alcohol and stability to coking.
