FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method of preparing a catalyst for selective hydrogenation of furfural to furfuryl alcohol, which comprises mixing crystalline hydrates of copper, iron and aluminum nitrates, further obtained mixture of crystalline hydrates of copper, iron and aluminum nitrates is melted at temperatures of 100–180 °C till complete removal of water, after which said calcination is carried out at temperatures of 300–550 °C.
EFFECT: obtaining furfuryl alcohol with output over 90 % with selective hydrogenation of furfural with conversion of more than 95 % at temperatures below 140 °C and pressure lower than 9 MPa of the process.
