FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: disclosed is a method of methylating a catalyst composition with substantially normalizing the enantiomeric distribution. Method of producing the catalyst composition involves: suspending metallometric compound in dimethoxyethane (DME); addition of RMgBr solution in DME, where R is a methyl group or a benzyl group, and where RMgBr is more than 2.3 equivalents relative to the metallocene compound; stirring for at least four hours to obtain alkylated metallocene compound; and recovering an alkylated metallocene compound, wherein the alkylated compound has a meso/rac ratio of enantiomers from 0.9 to 1.2.
EFFECT: said conditions provide an alkylation procedure which results in substantially uniform composition from the stereochemical viewpoint.
