SUBSTANCE: invention refers to medicine, namely to neonatology and diagnostics, and can be used for determining distress condition of intrauterine period. That is ensured by an ultrasound screening of fetus in 22–24 week of gestation. Presence of facial motions is detected: eyebrow lowering, raising the inner part of the eyebrow, lifting the eyebrow outer part, approaching the eyebrows inner angles. If observing the following complex of facial motions for 2 minutes: eyebrow lowering, raising an internal part of eyebrow, lifting an external part of eyebrows, approaching internal angles of eyebrows, determining presence of distress condition of intrauterine period.

EFFECT: method enables more accurate detection of the distressed fetal condition, starting from early gestation, by evaluating motor descriptors.
