SUBSTANCE: invention can be used to predict foetal growth retardation (FGR) in women with gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) and threatened late miscarriage, diagnosed from 13 to 22 weeks of pregnancy. A method for predicting foetal growth retardation (FGR) includes determining the concentration of fatty acid-binding protein 4 (FABP4) in the peripheral venous blood of these patients at the same time of pregnancy, and if its value is equal to or more than 15.19 ng/ml, the development of FRP is predicted from the 23rd week of pregnancy.

EFFECT: method is simple to perform and allows, starting from the 13th week of pregnancy, to predict the development of IGR from the 23rd week of gestation in women with GDM and threatened late miscarriage, and also allows to apply a personalized approach to the management of this category of patients, timely prescribe preventive measures to them in order to minimize the risk development of IGR, which will reduce the frequency and severity of perinatal pathology.
