SUBSTANCE: invention relates to braking of rail vehicles. Rail braking system comprises working brake 6, 106, parking brake 7, 107 and control and monitoring unit 3. Parking brake (7, 107) comprises locking device (20, 120) and movable control device (23, 24; 123, 124). At that, monitoring and control unit (3) is configured to: receive information characterizing value of said first source of pneumatic working body; process information describing the parking brake setpoint at least in its operating configuration to actuate said control device (23, 24, 123, 124) at least in its locking position; and determine value of said second source of pneumatic working body depending on preset value of parking brake and on information characterizing value of first source of pneumatic working medium for power supply of working brake pressure chamber (13, 113).
