FIELD: general purpose methods and devices for spraying and applying liquids.

SUBSTANCE: present invention relates to a method of producing catalytic converters of exhaust gases. In method for uniform application of coatings from liquid media intended for this purpose onto substrates for production of catalytic neutralizers of exhaust gases, in particular, for mechanical vehicles, the substrates are cylindrical and have two end surfaces, a side surface, an axial length and a plurality of channels extending from the first end surface to the second end surface. Fluid medium for coating application is introduced into substrate from below against gravity. By introduction of liquid medium for application of coating into substrate is controlled by reducing rate of coating application after passage of liquid medium part of axial length in direction of end face of substrate in comparison with speed at initial introduction of liquid medium into substrate. Before the liquid medium entering the substrate, the height of the surface of the liquid medium in the coating chamber is controlled using conductivity sensors. At the beginning of introduction of liquid medium for coating application rate of coating is greater than or equal to 0.1 m/s, but does not exceed 0.5 m/s. Decrease in rate of coating application is started not earlier than half of substrate is wetted with liquid medium for application of coating. At initial introduction of liquid medium for application of coating in substrate rate of coating application is at least twice higher rate of coating application immediately before appearance of liquid medium on top of substrate, which is the coating application rate when the liquid medium reaches a point corresponding to 95 % of the axial length of the substrate.

EFFECT: technical result is reduction of coating application time.
