SUBSTANCE: invention relates to deforming hair treatment means. Described is a deforming hair treatment agent comprising the following components (A), (B) and (C): (A) glyoxyl acid, or a hydrate thereof, or a salt, (B) one or two or more members selected from compounds of formula (1):

where R¹ is a hydrogen atom, X is a hydrogen atom or a hydroxy group, Y is a hydrogen atom, an oxygen atom or a hydroxy group, Z is a hydrogen atom, R^x is a hydrogen atom or a phenyl group which is optionally substituted with up to three hydroxy groups, R^y represents a hydrogen atom, a hydroxy group or an aromatic hydrocarbon group which is optionally substituted with up to three hydroxy groups, or an arylcarbonyloxy group which is optionally substituted with up to three hydroxy groups, and the dashed line indicates that the part is optionally a double bond, provided that the dashed line and the solid line that adjoin R^x or Y, each represent a double bond only when R^x or Y represent an oxygen atom, and otherwise these lines each represent a single bond, and (C) water, where the molar ratio of component (B) content to content of component (A), (B)/(A) is 0.01 or more and 5 or less, and wherein content of component (A) is 2.5 wt. %: or more and 30 wt. % or less.
