FIELD: communication equipment.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to communication. Methods performed by the wireless device operating in the rest mode comprise performing measurements on each of a plurality of resources from a predetermined set of resources, or demodulation or decoding of information from each of a plurality of resources from a predetermined set of resources, such as a set of beams. Methods further include estimating measurement or demodulated and decoded information for each of a plurality of resources with respect to a predetermined criterion, and then interrupting execution and evaluation of measurements, or interrupting demodulation and decoding and evaluating information in response to determining that a predetermined criterion is satisfied, such that one or more resources in the predetermined set of resources are neither measured nor not demodulated and not is decoded.

EFFECT: methods further include deactivating a receiver circuit in addition to responding to a determination that a predetermined criterion is met.
