Method comprises steps of: obtaining (S1) information on user activity in one or more beams, cells or sectors and performing (S2) at least one of activation and deactivation for at least one beam, cell or sector, periodic transmission of reference signals based on the obtained information.
EFFECT: technical result is selective provision of periodic transmission of reference signals in a wireless communication network.
