FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: invention refers to medicine, namely to mammalogy and radiation diagnostics, and can be used for diagnosing focal lesions of mammary gland in X-ray mammography. X-ray mammography is performed in two standard projections: craniocaudal and mediolateral. Contour of the focal formation is then assessed using an optical densitometer to obtain quantitative indices in standard units at four points: 1 - in the center of formation, 2 - on the border of formation and perifocal zone - on the formation contour, 3 - in the perifocal zone, which is located at a distance of up to 5 mm outside of the formation contour, 4 - in unchanged parenchyma of mammary gland, which is located at distance of 5 mm from the formation contour. If value in point 1 is equal to value in point 2, value in point 2 is greater than value in point 3 by at least 0.5 standard units, and value in point 3 is equal to value in point 4, formation contour is considered to be clear, refer to benign feature and benign formation is diagnosed. If value in point 1 is equal to value in point 2, value in point 2 is greater than value in point 3 by not more than 0.5 standard units, and value in point 3 is greater than value in point 4 by at least 0.2 standard units, then the formation contour is considered to be fuzzy, referred to a malignant trait and malignant formation is diagnosed.
EFFECT: method provides higher accuracy of determining the criterion of sharpness of a contour of focal formation of the mammary gland by performing a densitometric assessment of a mammographic image in a center of focal formation according to a certain algorithm, on border of focal formation, perifocal zone and area of unchanged parenchyma of mammary gland with obtaining quantitative indices in standard units.
