METHOD FOR INTRAOPERATIVE ASSESSMENT OF RESECTION VOLUME SUFFICIENCY IN ORGAN-PRESERVING SURGERIES IN PATIENTS WITH BREAST CANCER Russian patent published in 2024 - IPC A61B6/00 A61B17/00

SUBSTANCE: invention refers to medicine, namely to mastology and methods of X-ray diagnostics. Intraoperatively removed sectoral macropreparation of mammary gland is marked with X-ray-positive clips. Two clips are an upper edge, one clip is a medial resection edge. Urgent X-ray mammography of the removed macropreparation is performed. Determining the distance from the edge of the tumour node to the resected edges, if the distance is more than 2 mm, the resection volume is considered to be sufficient, if observing a segment of a tumour node located at distance of 2 mm or less to a resected edge, an additional dissection of this segment is performed in accordance with the orientation on the X-ray mammographic examination. Post-dissected area is marked and, together with the previously excised sector, is sent for a planned morphological examination.

EFFECT: method makes it possible to quickly and fully perform X-ray assessment of the relation of the tumour node to the resection edges of the removed macropreparation, to visualize the radiopaque marks established before the neoadjuvant systemic treatment, reduce the time of intraoperative examination of the removed sector of the mammary gland, reduce the volume of the removed breast tissue and, as a result, reduce the frequency of repeated surgical interventions.
