Method of controlling ion gate of cell of ion mobility spectrometer (Ion Mobility Spectrometer) includes: controlling the blocking voltage between the first gate electrode and the second gate electrode for unlocking and locking the gate to allow passage of the analyzed ions through the gate in the drift direction by changing (a) voltage at first gate electrode and (b) voltage at second gate electrode; wherein voltages on the first gate electrode and the second gate electrode are varied with respect to the voltage profile varying in space in the IMS cell.
EFFECT: higher resolution and sensitivity of the IMS cell.
