SUBSTANCE: invention relates to biotechnology and can be used for cleaning aqueous media in closed ponds contaminated with arsenic-containing compounds using floating plants – eichornia. Method for hydrobotanical purification of aqueous media contaminated with arsenic-containing compounds involves placing aicornia in contaminated water with arsenic-containing compounds with addition of soluble salts of humic acid in given concentrations while maintaining ambient temperature of not less than 16 °C, and contaminated water temperature is within 15 °C to 36 °C. Method is carried out with biological oxygen consumption of not more than 1,000 mg of O2/l, chemical oxygen consumption of not more than 2,000 mg of O2/l and additional artificial illumination with green-red spectrum lamps.

EFFECT: invention reduces amount of arsenic-containing compounds in water reservoirs.
