FIELD: electrical engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to electrical engineering and can be used in power conversion devices. Power conversion device includes first switching element formed by using semiconductor material, and a second switching element connected in parallel to the first switching element and formed by using a second semiconductor material having a forbidden zone, which is narrower than the forbidden zone of the first semiconductor material. Power conversion device further includes a control device configured to selectively perform any one of the first switching control and the second switching control for periodic switching of the first switching element and second switching element, respectively, according to current command value. Size of the first switching element is smaller than the size of the second switching element. Control device selects the first switching control if the command current value is less than the first threshold value, and selects the second switching control if the command current value is greater than the second threshold value.
EFFECT: technical result is improvement of device operation due to reduction of switching losses.
