FIELD: radar ranging and radio navigation.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of radar ranging and can be used in pulsed radar stations (RS) for detection and (or) tracking of targets with phased antenna arrays (PAA). Technical result is achieved due to formation in the radar coverage area of the required view area, composed of elementary viewing cells (EVC), at that, several EVC arranged consecutively form combined view cell (CVC). To survey the formed view zone, a sequence of probing radio pulses is formed, each of which differs by the carrier frequency and (or) type and (or) law of intrapulse modulation from neighboring radio pulses and is intended for examination of only one EVC (CVC) located in one direction. Unambiguous determination of range is ensured by selection of minimum time interval between identical sounding radio pulses. Radar station operates as a conventional pulse radar station, but the PAA-transmitter-receiver operation synchronization is carried out so that the radiation time of the probing radio pulses and the receiver on-time to receive these radio pulses fall at different strokes, wherein the synchronization is carried out such that the receiver operation interval, which is determined by the length of EVC (CVC) range, falls within the time intervals of propagation of other probing radio pulses to the assigned EVC (CVC) and back to the radar station.

EFFECT: high efficiency of radar station operation due to adaptation of the required survey area by location in the coverage area, geometric dimensions and survey parameters (survey time, number of soundings, parameters of probing radio pulses, parameters of the receiver) to parameters of the solved problem with due allowance for a priori information on the situation.
