FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to metallurgy, specifically to production of siliceous ferroalloys in ore-thermal electric furnaces. Method of smelting ferrosilicon with different content of silicon in ore-thermal furnace includes dosing of charge components, in form of quartzite, reducing agents and steel chips, and their loading into furnace after melting of previous ferrosilicon grade. During smelting of ferrosilicon with higher silicon content, a carbon reducing agent is loaded into the furnace for electrodes, quartzite and reducing agents are charged into furnace for 2–4 hours at rate of 300 kg of quartzite in one portion of the mixture. At the end of said time charge is loaded, containing quartzite, reducing agents and steel chips in the calculated amount to obtain a given grade of ferrosilicon, at that, reducing agent is loaded into electrodes in amount of 5–15 % of quartzite weight fed with charge not containing steel chips.
EFFECT: reduction of power consumption.
