FIELD: internal combustion engines.

SUBSTANCE: invention can be used in control systems of internal combustion engines. Disclosed are methods and systems for controlling rate of change of reference voltage of an oxygen sensor. In one of the examples, the method may contain a gradual increase in the reference voltage of the oxygen sensor from a lower first voltage to a higher second voltage with a defined rate of change and/or in several steps. Said rate of change can be based on engine operating conditions.

EFFECT: invention allows reducing the sensor load, prolonging its operation and improving the engine control accuracy.
