SUBSTANCE: invention relates to oxygen sensors. In one embodiment, the oxygen sensor operation method includes steps of determining a first pumping current of the oxygen sensor; determining second pumping current of oxygen sensor; pumping current for dry air of the oxygen sensor is determined based on the first and second pumping currents and the setting value of the oxygen sensor impedance is corrected based on the difference between the pumping current for dry air of the oxygen sensor and the predetermined pumping current for dry air.

EFFECT: various methods of compensating for variations in the ratio between the setting impedance and the operating temperature of the oxygen sensor are disclosed.
