FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: various methods of oxygen sensor operation are proposed. In one example, a method of operating an oxygen sensor comprises applying power to an oxygen sensor heater and notification of whether the water is in contact with the oxygen sensor based on the oxygen sensor temperature change rate. Said power represents initial, first power level. In response to a notification that water is in contact with the oxygen sensor, applying a second power level higher than the first power level to the heater and determining whether the expected temperature of the oxygen sensor or the minimum expected oxygen sensor temperature change rate is achieved. Both the expected temperature and the minimum expected rate of change are expected for the second power level.
EFFECT: technical result is high accuracy of obtained data by maintaining the required range of operating temperatures of the oxygen sensor.
