FIELD: fire safety.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to field of fire and explosion safety and can be used in development of means and methods of fire and explosion hazard protection of transport facilities, oil and gas chemical industry, nuclear power plants, objects of rocket-and-space equipment and other objects on which flammable gases are used. Disclosed is a device for determining concentration limits of flame propagation by gas mixtures under conditions corresponding to zero-gravity. Device contains a combustion chamber made in the form of a cylinder connected to a system of supply to the combustion chamber of a gas mixture of the specified composition, for which concentration limits of flame propagation are determined. Invention is based on fundamental laws of heat-mass exchange processes in flat channels and results of investigation of limiting conditions of burning in zero-gravity, consisting in the fact that reduced height of flat gas layer enclosed between horizontally located plane-parallel plates forming gas layer of limited height enables to perform heat-and-mass transfer process equivalent to conductive one.
EFFECT: high information value of obtained results owing to determination of concentration limits of flame propagation over gas mixtures.
