FIELD: manufacturing technology.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to methods of connecting dissimilar materials, specifically glass and metal, particularly aluminum or its alloy, to obtain glass metal composites, and can be used in making panels for various structures in construction and other industries, pipes used in chemical and petrochemical industry, hulls in shipbuilding, aircraft building. Method involves application on substrate of aluminum or its alloy composition containing 20–30 wt% boron oxide B2O3 and 70–80 wt% of sodium liquid glass, holding substrate with applied composition 1.0-3.0 hours at room temperature with subsequent heating to 380–410 °C at rate of 2 deg/min and holding at the achieved temperature for 3.0–4.0 hours. Without cooling the treated substrate, silicate glass melt of composition is applied on it, wt%: 62.0 SiO2-5.5Al2O3-2.6MgO-6.5CaO-13.6Na2O-9.8B2O3 at temperature of 1,450 °C, cooled to glass transition temperature, held at this temperature for 3–5 hours and cooled to room temperature for 5–6 hours.
EFFECT: high strength characteristics of the obtained glass-metal composite material owing to hardening of the glass-metal bond at the boundary of contact thereof with simultaneous simplification of the technology.
