FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to structural engineering and is intended for use in bearing structures in construction, hydraulic engineering, shipbuilding and aircraft building. The method involves forming an assembly having components made from glass material and metal, on the condition that the coefficient of thermal expansion of the glass is lower than that of the metal, melting the surface of the glass material in contact with the metal, heating and holding at melting point of the glass material, generating forces which press the components made from glass material to each other, and cooling the workpiece. The reinforced glass material used is a glass rod which is coated with a metal with melting point which is not higher than that of the glass. The coated rod is then put into a preheated tight-fitting metallic cup. The assembly is then heated until the surface of the glass rod melts and then gradually cooled. The tight metallic cup is fixed inside a tubular cover, where the thickness of the walls of the metallic cup corresponds to structural dimensions of the ready article. At the bottom of the cup and on the top face of the rod there is a low-melting material in form of a lining in a volume which corresponds to the volume of the gap between the rod and the inner surface of the cup at maximum degree of heating the assembly.
EFFECT: method ensures reliable joining of glass and metal sheets.
