FIELD: transportation.
SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to system and method for parallel parking of a vehicle at a target parking area. System implementing the method includes a sensor system configured to detect objects located near the target parking spot, and parking assistance system connected to the sensor system for communication. Parking assistance system is configured to automatically control the direction of movement of the vehicle during reverse movement to the target parking space, while limiting the speed of the vehicle. Limitation of vehicle speed takes place based on steering wheel turn angle and relative to position of one of vehicle confining object in front and rear.
EFFECT: providing assistance in performance of parallel parking of a vehicle.
