FIELD: water treatment.

SUBSTANCE: disclosed is a method of producing granular material for purification and mineralization of drinking water, comprising a step of mixing sorbent, mineralizing substances and polymer binder and a step for thermal compression of the starting mixture and characterized by that sorbent used is activated carbon with an iodine number of more than 1,000 mg/g, and the stage of thermal compression of the initial mixture of fine sorbing, mineralizing substances and polymer binder is carried out by extrusion or hot sintering at temperature of 10–40 °C is higher than softening point of polymer binder and when mixture is 12–25 % compressed, at ratio of activated carbon : mineralizing substance : polymer binder 5–50:35–85:10–25 wt%, followed by crushing of obtained porous block material and its fractionation. As a result, a granular material with granule size of 0.3–2.0 mm with porosity in granules of 1–5 mcm is obtained. Proposed invention can be used in pressure and pressureless water purification filters.

EFFECT: high-porosity granulated material is obtained for purification and mineralization of drinking water with high performance characteristics for water treatment up to 96 % over extended service life, reaching 10,000 volumes of mineralized water per 1 volume of material.
