SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a valve actuator for actuating a valve, preferably a sanitary valve, in an axial control movement for the first valve function, preferably a cutoff function, and with rotary control movement for implementation of second valve function, in particular function of quantity or mixing control, as well as to sanitary valve equipped with such actuator. According to the invention, the valve actuator comprises a rotation transmitting component (8); working element (10), which is made with possibility of combined rotary and axial movement and has self-retaining initial position, front end position located in axial direction in front of initial position, and a self-retaining rear end position axially behind the initial position, wherein by moving the working member to the front end position, activating the first valve function, and by turning the working member, activating the second valve function; resilient biasing element (9) configured to displace the working member along an axis towards a rear end position; fixing guide component (7), made with possibility of connection with valve axial drive element, fixed relative to axial movement, but with possibility of rotary movement, and comprising retainer (15) shifted in direction of rotation to retain working element in initial position, and axial guide (16) enabling axial movement of working element in direction of rear end position, and guide mechanism (17), functionally located between the working element and the fixing component for rotation of the fixing component during movement of the working element in the direction of its front end position. Application sphere of the invention can be, for example, sanitary valves for quantity control or mixing valves.
