Method comprises steps of: detecting a user's level of interest in the state of motion of an automatically controlled vehicle based on a user's sight line, watching other vehicle in environment of automatically controlled vehicle and when level of interest is higher than specified reference value: controlling control characteristics during automatic control depending on the level of interest and / or detecting characteristics of controlling the target, which the user is interested in, and controlling control characteristics during automatic control based on the detected target control characteristics. Method can also include steps of: determining whether a user of the carrier vehicle is peering into the stationary object in the environment of the carrier vehicle, and when the user is peering, user's level of interest in the state of motion of an automatically controlled vehicle is determined based on the characteristics of the stationary object and control characteristics are controlled during automatic control based on the level of interest.

EFFECT: enabling provision of vehicle control device and method taking into account of user's level of traffic state.
