SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to a method and a device for controlling movement of a vehicle. Motion control method comprises steps of: setting the level of assistance indicating the level of interference of the autonomous movement control in the movement of the vehicle; first and second help levels are set. Second level is lower than the first level of assistance in terms of the level of interference of autonomous movement control. If the level of assistance does not decrease from the first to the second level of assistance, when the vehicle in question autonomously follows the vehicle in front with autonomous traffic control. Prohibiting autonomous control of change of traffic lane of considered vehicle, if any vehicle moving in front, which moves in the adjacent traffic lane, is not detected.
EFFECT: avoiding reduction of assistance level due to autonomous change of traffic lane.
