FIELD: biotechnology.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of biotechnology. Invention is a method for assessing milk productivity of cows by elemental composition of wool, comprising cutting a wool sample weighing at least 0.4 g from upper withers on day 30 after calving, further evaluation of concentrations of Pb, Zn and Se by atomic emission and mass spectrometry methods with inductively coupled plasma, where the criterion for evaluating milk production is the toxic load coefficient, which is calculated by formula. If the toxic load coefficient is less than Kst (0.031 %) cows are assigned to a group with high milk yield, with value of coefficient higher than Kst (0.031 %) cows are assigned to a group with low milk yield.
EFFECT: method is proposed for assessment of milk productivity of cows by element composition of wool.
