SUBSTANCE: invention is a method of selecting bulls with a potentially high intensity of weight growth based on the elemental composition of blood serum, including collecting blood from the tail vein with a volume of at least 4 ml from bulls aged 8 months, separating the blood serum by centrifuging samples for 10 minutes at a speed of 1,000 rpm per minute, determination of the concentrations of Mn, Zn, Se, Al and Pb by atomic emission mass spectrometry with inductively coupled plasma, calculation of the toxic load coefficient (K) using the following formula: K = [(Pb+Al)/(Se+Zn+Mn)]x100, where K is the toxic load coefficient, %, Pb is the concentration of lead in the blood serum, mg/kg, Al is the concentration of aluminium in the blood serum, mg/kg, Se is the concentration of selenium in the blood serum, mg/kg, Zn is the concentration of zinc in blood serum, mg/kg, Mn is the concentration of manganese in blood serum, mg/kg, 100 is a correction factor, with a K value below 51.72 units, bull calves are classified as a group of animals with a potentially high intensity of weight growth, with a concentration above 51.72 units, respectively, to the group with low weight growth potential.
EFFECT: invention can be used for selecting bulls with high weight growth potential.
