FIELD: technical diagnostics; engine building.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to technical diagnostics and operation of marine diesel-generator sets (DGS). Method for determining over-consumption of fuel in order to determine technical state and compliance of used fuel with standard diesel fuel DGS consists in that for specific operating modes fuel consumption measurement results, active power, power factor as per the readings of the standard measuring instruments is introduced in the mathematical establishing relationship of fuel consumption of the serviceable DGS using the standard diesel fuel with power and electric load. Over-consumption of fuel in DGS mode of operation is defined as difference between measured and calculated fuel consumption. Implementation is carried out without DGS removal from action and can be implemented semi-automatically by manual introduction into computer diagnostic model of values of power and electric load and fuel consumption by readings of standard measuring devices and automatically when these values are entered into computer model by means of corresponding sensors.
EFFECT: enabling control of DGS technical state and compliance of used fuel with standard diesel fuel.
