SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to medical equipment, specifically to a filament-yarn device, in which filaments with notches having improved end effector are used. Composite filleted suture filament device comprises an elongated suture base and a composite latch. Elongated suture base extends along a central axis from the proximal end to the distal end. Elongated suture base comprises a lower side, an upper side and a width extending perpendicular to the central axis. Composite fixing tab is attached to the distal end. Composite locking tongue comprises a first layer and a second layer. First layer has an upper side and a lower side with thickness between them, and a length extending parallel to the central axis, and a width extending perpendicular to the central axis. First layer has two free ends extending along the central axis. Second layer has an upper side and a lower side with thickness between them, and a length extending parallel to the central axis, and a width extending perpendicular to the central axis. Second layer has two free ends extending along central axis. Upper side of elongated suture base lies in one plane with upper side of first layer along entire length of first layer. Lower side of the second layer is welded to the upper side of the first layer. Width of first layer and width of second layer is more than width of elongated base, so that first and second layers extend outward relative to elongated base of suture. Method of making the above composite surgical device involves placing the first layer and the second layer in connection with each other and exposing the layers to energy sufficient to cause welding of the first and second layers with each other.
