FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a collimator for hard X-rays. Collimator body is formed by a set of plates of thickness d, made from material with high absorption coefficient of X-ray radiation, to each such plate on one side are attached 2i+1, where i from 1 to n is a natural number, plates of material transparent for x-ray radiation, and thickness of each of these plates Dk is determined by the relationship Dk=D+h(D+d)/2/f0((k-1)/i-1)), where d is plate thickness from material with high x-ray absorption coefficient, D is average clearance height between plates with thickness d, f0 is the distance from the radiation source to the middle of the collimator, k is the plate number along the radiation path; set of plates forms periodic grid with period d+D. Providing for focusing of periodic array on radiation source; part of plates with thickness d together with adjacent plates with thickness Dk in area of hole of collimator are made consisting of two equal parts, installed with possibility of forming central hole of collimator. In a possible version of the device, the plates in the area of the working hole of the collimator are installed with possibility of mutual movement to provide for adjustment of the sizes of the working central hole with the help of a template of the specified cross-section.
EFFECT: technical result is the possibility of recording the image of the whole object or its large part with selective suppression of scattered radiation, as well as increase the volume of information obtained in one experiment owing to the tunable cross-section shape of the central hole of the collimator.
