FIELD: machine building.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to method and device for heat treatment and hardening of complex shaped objects, such as crankshafts. To improve the processing quality of complex shaped objects, the method includes the steps of projecting energy beam (1), such as a laser beam, onto the surface of object (1000), actuating scanner (2) for repeated scanning with beam (1) in order to move primary spot (11) in accordance with the first scanning path to form active spot (12) on the object and to move said active spot (12) relative to the surface of object (1000). Beam propagates along the optical path between scanner (2) and the surface of object (11), and on this optical path there is device (3, 3A) for deflecting the beam in order to redirect the beam.
EFFECT: device for deflecting the beam can be located near the surface of the object.
