FIELD: internal combustion engines.
SUBSTANCE: invention can be used in internal combustion engine fuel feed control systems. Disclosed are methods and systems for eliminating consequences of leaks of fuel injector in conditions of engine idling. In accordance with one of the examples of implementation, the method under the invention may include during or after engine stop, identification of engine cylinder with fuel injector leakage and engine installation, for example, by its electric motor rotation, into position selected depending on identified cylinder, so that the identified valve outlet valve is at least partially open.
EFFECT: invention allows increasing stability of start-up and operation of the engine after its stop in case of leakage of injector, as well as reducing toxicity of exhaust gases due to discharge of vapours of leaked fuel from the cylinder into the catalytic neutraliser.
