FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to medicine, namely to cardiovascular surgery. Prior to surgical approach, 8 ml of 20 % cefazolin solution is administered intravenously. Then, primary circuit of the artificial circulation apparatus is filled with 4 ml of 20 % cefazolin solution. Before suturing the sternum edges, 20 ml of 5 % cefazolin solution is irrigated with an afterbreast. After suturing the sternum edges, gauze tissues impregnated with 1 % cefazolin solution are applied on soft tissues located above the breastbone.
EFFECT: method enables eliminating the risk of deep sternal infection without sternal diastasis, the need for surgical sanitation of the afterbreast space on mediastinitis and daily bandaging; reducing soft tissue infectious process frequency above breast; reducing average length of postoperative bed day and cost of treatment.
