FIELD: technological processes.
SUBSTANCE: invention can be used in studying properties of hydrogen-saturated metal samples for controlling hydrogen corrosion and creating alloys with novel properties. Method of saturating a metal sample with hydrogen involves contacting a sample and hydrogen, measuring sample temperature, a cycle of steps for heating the sample and hydrogen to a temperature higher than the melting point of the sample, holding in a hydrogen atmosphere and cooling the sample below the crystallization temperature. At all stages, pressure of vapors of chemical elements entering the sample is maintained, not lower than that of saturated vapors. Duration of holding and cooling stages is measured. Whole cycle is performed repeatedly till the condition of equality of cooling stages in time or reduction of duration of cooling stage. Increasing the holding time and stabilizing the heat exchange mode during cooling.
EFFECT: invention enables to prevent reduction of low-melting components during preparation of a hydrogen-saturated metal sample.
