FIELD: radio engineering.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to radio engineering and can be used in radio testing of fairings and radio-transparent shelters of antennae, radar, communication and navigation stations. Disclosed is a method of measuring losses in cowlings at a workplace, which includes a measurement antenna and a source for forming a flat EMW. Signal reflected from fairing is suppressed by re-reflected signal rejection. For this purpose, synthesis of time response is performed on the basis of spectral measurements, re-reflection of signal by means of window function and reverse conversion to frequency area. Frequency spectrum used for synthesis of the time response is selected according to the following relationship: fn=f0+Δf·n, at n=-K…-1,0,1,..K, where f0 – operating frequency; Δf is frequency pitch in the formed spectrum, which is selected so that Δf≤c/M; M=2·F·c/f0; F is magnitude of absolute phase advance from transmitting to receiving device; K is the nearest integer from condition K≥c/4·Δf·l; l is distance from fairing to measuring antenna.

EFFECT: reduced error of measurement of losses in fairing.
