FIELD: technological processes.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to an adsorption process for extracting xenon from a stream of cryogenic liquid or gas in which an adsorbent layer is brought into contact with a xenon-containing liquid or gas stream. Method comprises: i) supplying a supply stream at cryogenic temperatures to the inlet of an adsorption tank, wherein said adsorbent layer comprises an adsorbent selective to xenon; ii) holding said adsorbent layer in a stream to obtain a concentration of xenon at the outlet of said layer, which is equal to 70 % of the concentration of xenon at the inlet of said adsorbent layer or higher; iii) completion of supply to adsorbing layer and blowdown by purge gas; iv) increasing temperature of said adsorbent layer to temperature providing desorption of said xenon; v) extracting the product of xenon desorbed from said adsorbent layer; vi) cooling said adsorbent layer to cryogenic temperatures using a cryogenic liquid and repeating steps i)–vi) in a cyclic manner. Said adsorbent selective to xenon is X type zeolite with ion exchange to silver, wherein degree of ion exchange is 80 % Ag by equivalents.
EFFECT: technical result consists in obtaining a highly pure product and safe use of oxygen as purging gas.
