FIELD: power engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to hydrogen power engineering and is intended for use in energy sources on hydrogen fuel elements. Method includes use of magnesium hydride as metal-hydride fuel, sifting and grinding of metal-hydride fuel, compaction of metal-salt fuel filler in chemical cartridge, heating of metal-salt fuel filling and reaction of metal-hydride fuel with steam. Design of chemical hydrogen source includes: disposable chemical cartridge with metal hydride fuel, made in form of thin-walled metal cylinder, a heat-insulating jacket, a water storage container, a device for dispensing water into the chemical cartridge, a thermal control system and a control controller.
EFFECT: generation of hydrogen of high purity with controlled gas flow, as well as use as a safe source of hydrogen with high specific density of energy storage for power systems of unmanned aerial vehicles, robotic systems, mobile and portable energy sources.
