FIELD: radar ranging.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to radar ranging and can be used to improve the quality of radar target identification. Essence of the invention lies in the fact that in the method of determining transverse dimensions of a target based on data of two spaced positions in multi-position radars based on their polarization-scattering properties on fluctuation of signal intensities received by combined and derived receiving positions, when using information from sensors on angular position of target determining angular rotation speed of target, at that, depending on the value of the angular rotation speed with the help of the controlled pulse generator, the rate of information retrieval from the outputs of the receiving-transmitting radar station is changed, the sequence of measurements obtained as a result of polling of both outputs of the receiving-transmitting radar station, for a certain period of time accumulates in corresponding accumulators, upon completion of accumulation, obtained measurements are transmitted to inputs of phase transducers and characterize distribution of both all and only depolarizing scatterers of the target in transverse direction.
EFFECT: high accuracy of constructing a radar image, which in turn reduces errors of detecting radar targets.
