FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to medicine. Hybrid metal-polymer structure for replacement of bone defects of tubular bones contains a solid outer layer of ultrahigh molecular weight polyethylene and a porous layer of ultrahigh molecular weight polyethylene with pore size of 50–1,000 mcm. Structure additionally comprises a metal frame perforated with holes, with compression and flexural rigidity characteristic for natural cortical bone tissue. Solid external layer has a smooth bioinert surface for contact with muscles and skin. Porous layer of ultrahigh molecular weight polyethylene simulates spongy bone tissue and has volumetric porosity of 50–90 %.
EFFECT: invention provides high biocompatibility and repair properties of the porous layer of ultrahigh molecular weight polyethylene, as well as adequate mechanical properties.
