FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a modular multilevel converter (2) comprising control module (4) and computer (10) for calculating a predetermined value for internal energy of a converter stored in capacitors of arm submodules. Control module is configured to determine, based on said predetermined value for converter internal energy, a predetermined value for voltage across the outputs of each modulated capacitor, wherein said preset value is used to control voltage in points of common connection between converter and DC electrical network, as well as voltage at outputs of each modulated capacitor.
EFFECT: technical result is expansion of functional capabilities.
