SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of biotechnology. Disclosed is a component of a recombinant rubella virus vaccine, which is a recombinant antigen containing a double repeat of a sequence of epitopes A (208–239 a.o.) and B (246–285 a.o.) glycoprotein E1 of the rubella virus. Characterized antigen is a protein with a molecular weight of 23 kDa. Advantage of this antigen is that it contains all the main rubella virus epitopes, inducing antibody production, which have neutralizing and haemagglutinating activities, as well as can prevent virus entry into the cell and delay virus release from the cell. Rubella virus epitopes presented in the presented recombinant antigen activate not only humoral, but cell immune response, are conservative for different strains of virus and play a key role in protective mechanisms of immune response in rubella infection. Obtained antigen can be considered as the main component of the recombinant rubella virus vaccine.

EFFECT: advantage of this type of vaccines is high efficiency, safety: technology of obtaining recombinant vaccines does not require weakened or killed pathogen, use of expensive culture media, expensive equipment and observance of special conditions of sterility.
