SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method of producing a modified polymer based on a conjugated diene, a modified polymer based on a conjugated diene, a polymer composition, a cross-linked body and a tire. Modified polymer based on a conjugated diene is obtained by a method involving reaction of a polymer based on a conjugated, having an active end group of a chain obtained by polymerising a monomer, having a conjugated diene compound, in the presence of an initiator which includes at least either an alkali metal compound, or an alkali-earth metal compound, with a compound [M] having at least two groups selected from the group ''-C(R1)=NA1'', or from group ''-N=C(R1)-A1'', where R1 means a hydrogen atom or a hydrocarbyl group, and A1 is a monovalent group having an alkoxysilyl group. Modified polymer based on a conjugated diene having high Mooney viscosity and good shape stability, and exhibiting excellent processability and low heat generation are obtained in a minimum number of steps.
