FIELD: machine building.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to vehicle engine cooling system. Disclosed are methods and systems for improving evaluation of coolant level of an engine in order to reduce engine overheating. Liquid level in the expansion tank of the coolant can be determined based on the liquid level in the hollow vertical tube, connected with possibility of hydraulic communication with the tank in the upper and lower parts, wherein liquid level in the tube can be determined based on the ultrasonic signal echo signal time emitted by the sensor located in the compartment in the lower part of the vertical tube. Output data of the sensor are compensated by correction based on the vehicle motion parameters in order to compensate for deviation of the liquid level in connection with fluid oscillations caused by movement.
EFFECT: invention provides higher accuracy of determining the level of coolant volume and operating parameters of the engine to prevent overheating of the engine.
