FIELD: radar ranging.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to subsurface radar and can be used in searching for various objects of both artificial and natural origin, lying in subsurface space. Technical result is achieved due to that by means of radar with step change of carrier frequency sub-surface probing is performed, during which obtained signals are stored, and after completion of probing, antenna aperture is synthesized using calculated signal delay times and corresponding phase additives to focus antenna aperture, wherein probing is carried out in discrete points on spatial grid of selected site, dimensions of which substantially exceed size of radar antenna, wherein each probing point is spatially referenced to corresponding spatial coordinates and received complex signals. Synthesis of the antenna aperture is carried out by an iterative method, in which the coefficient of delay and the shape of the frequency characteristic of the speed of propagation of radio waves change. Iterations are continued until the most contrast image of the object and the exact shape of the frequency dependence of the phase velocity are achieved.
EFFECT: technical result is higher probability of detection and high accuracy of determining the depth of objects of both artificial and natural origin, located in subsurface space.
