FIELD: physics.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to an apparatus and a method for determining a vapor dosage and/or amount of an active ingredient in a steam for a user inhaling steam by inhalation. Method of estimating amount of substance delivered to a user of an evaporating device during a dosing interval comprises steps of determining a power value applied to the evaporator heater, wherein the heater is configured to evaporate the evaporated material; determining initial temperature of heater at first time, wherein first time is at beginning of dosing interval; determining second temperature of evaporator heater during second time, wherein second time is following first time; determining, based on the power value applied to the evaporator heater, and difference between initial temperature and second temperature, estimated amount of substance delivered to user of evaporation device.

EFFECT: technical result of invention is creation of method and device for steam delivery and accurately, for example, within reasonable margin of accuracy/error, delivered dosage; to determine delivered doses of steam and/or ingredients in steam by monitoring electrical activity, and in some cases, temperature of device; for delivery of predefined doses and/or alarms when used or for a nurse, when the dose threshold has been reached or exceeded, and electronic recording of delivered doses.
